Wireless.Consulting modernised the entire LAN and WLAN infrastructure at the headquarters of Poppe + Potthoff Präzisionsstahlrohre GmbH, an internationally active specialist in metal processing, in Werther (Westphalia).
The challenge
The previous WLAN solution was neither comprehensive nor future-proof. The goal was to create a stable, scalable infrastructure that would enable smooth communication in production and logistics – from BDE terminals to collaboration tools such as MS Teams.
Implementation Assessment & planning:
close coordination with the customer, focus on a cloud-based solution for easy management and monitoring.
Technology selection: Decision in favour of Extreme Networks Cloud IQ (XIQ) with WiFi 6E access points and Extreme Fabric for the LAN infrastructure.
Migration: Installation of 80 access points (including AP4000 and AP5050 Outdoor), supplemented by switches from the 5320 and 5520 series. The introduction took place gradually and in parallel with the existing structure – without disrupting ongoing operations.
Result:
With the new LAN and WLAN architecture, Poppe + Potthoff Präzisionsstahlrohre now has a scalable, powerful and future-proof network infrastructure that can be expanded to additional locations at any time.
